To help educate the public and reconnect descendants of Melungeon families from south/central Appalachia who left their hillside homes during the Great Appalachian migration to head North along the Hillbilly Highway in search of a better life in the Great Lakes Rust Belt region of the US.

To continue rebuilding an essential community of living descendants of the Lakeminite Diaspora of Melungeons, who have been dispersed and assimilated.  As well as providing a local community of support for Melungeon people to connect with, learn from, relate to, and rely on in times of need.

To reconstruct and teach living descendants the unique culture developed among the small Lakeminite communities settled in the Rust Belt, as well as the continued preservation of Lakeminite Melungeon culture, oral histories and traditions.
